What is the purpose of ISTEP+?
The purpose of the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress Plus (ISTEP+) program is to measure student achievement in the subject areas of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. In particular, ISTEP+ reports student achievement levels according to the Indiana Academic Standards that were adopted in November 2000 by the Indiana State Board of Education. An Applied Skills Assessment and a Multiple-Choice Assessment are used to measure these standards; they are required components of the ISTEP+ program.
The DOE releases the ISTEP+ Applied Skills items every year to the public. The released items can be used by teachers, parents, and students to prepare for the test in the future because the items won't be used again. Below are links to the 2010, 2011, and 2012 released items in Math, English/LA, and Science. Feel free to view and print the items to practice at home.
